Drinking and driving, or drunk driving, is a big killer responsible for the deaths of thousands upon thousands every year. A large number of accidents, injuries and deaths worldwide are caused by irresponsible and highly intoxicated drivers.
Driver’s Education Courses teach students the perils of drunk driving and why it should be avoided. Anyone who is old enough to drive a car is old enough to understand why it is bad to drink and drive. Regardless of the amount of alcohol in the system, alcohol is never a good idea, because it not only affects the motor skills of the person and the speed of reflexes, but it encourages recklessness inside the driver. It also affects depth perception.
Road safety is a goal within every jurisdiction and every country. It’s not merely the safety of the driver and the passengers inside the car that is at risk, but hapless and defenseless pedestrians and other drivers are placed at risk as well.
Statistics show that in the United States alone, around 17,000 people are killed because of drunken driving related incidents yearly. Hundreds and thousands more are left injured. Drunk driving can bring nothing but trouble, and what greater grief is there than having an innocent victim killed because of irresponsibility in the part of a drunk teen?
Awareness about drunk driving is now part of campaigns being used by different schools and different organizations that care about the safety of the roads. Education can save the lives of many. Drunk driving kills and the sooner this is understood by young drivers, the sooner the fatalities related to drunk driving can be reduced.
